Xi Jinping: Rural Areas Also Need to Have a "Toilet Revolution"

Time:2017-11-29 20:43:00Hits:346Size:T|T

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party Of China, general secretary Xi Jinping has walked into farmers' homes during a domestic investigation and research, often asking villagers whether they are using water or dry toilets, and will learn more about the situation when inspecting the appearance of the village.

Why are the supreme leaders of a country so concerned about the people going to the toilet?

Speaking of rural toilets, most people's first feeling is dirty and smelly. Some toilets are bundles of corn poles surrounding a ramshackle shed, some are a toilet outside the walls of their own yard with adobe or gravel blocks, and some toilets are made of two bluestones.

These dry toilets, not only bad smelly, but also health hazards especially when the summer and flies comes. The Report on the Promotion of the Toilet Revolution issued by the National Tourism Administration mentions that 80 per cent of infectious diseases in rural areas are caused by pollution of toilet droppings and unsanitary drinking water. Among them, feces-related infectious diseases reached more than 30, the most common are dysentery, cholera, hepatitis, infectious diarrhea and so on.

Toilets are not only essential facilities for everyday life, but also a sign of a place's level of civilization. Due to the lack of infrastructure and the influence of stereotypes, rural toilets have not completely disappeared, seriously affecting the rural ecological environment and the health of the masses. To change this situation, we must come to a "toilet revolution" to solve the toilet problem in the new rural construction is iconic.

"Toilet Revolution" is a small matter, but it is a big thing in the lives of ordinary people. We take you into the "Small Toilet, Big People's Livelihood" that General Secretary Xi Jinping cares about.
